Leadership Development

Let’s face it.  We’ve all made a “freshman” mistake or two when we first took on leadership roles, right?  The fact is, leaders only know what they’ve been taught, either formally in training or informally within the context of their own boss’ leadership skills (or lack thereof).

A lot has been written about what makes a good or great leader. If you don’t have them (or enough of them) in your organization, your business is not reaching its potential.  Plain and simple.

It’s no surprise that good leadership is key to organizational success–leaders set the “tone” for the work environment, they directly affect employee satisfaction (and, therefore, productivity, work quality and retention, to name a few), they imperil/improve your corporate reputation and are, at this very moment, whether you realize it or not, training potential future leaders of your organization.

So whether you want to develop curriculum for your up-and-coming leaders so they avoid those freshman mistakes, or influence your existing, experienced leaders to make wiser choices that will improve your business success, we can help.  We can help research, customize and implement existing leadership development curricula options to uniquely fit the needs of your organization.

Whatever you do, please don’t fall into the trap of excusing poor behavior (by leaders or otherwise) with “Oh, that’s just Joe,” or “Jane’s always been like that”. Even if Joe and Jane are your best salespeople or market makers or (fill-in-the-blank), if you aren’t convinced that allowing poor behavior absolutely negatively impacts your profitability, read, “The No A**hole Rule: Building a Civilized Workplace and Surviving One That Isn’t” by Robert I. Sutton*. You may very well just change your mind.
